Sven Ambus Range Desks

Sven Ambus Range Desks

Ambus Desks

Ambus Bench is available with distinctive rectangular hoop metal frames or, unusually for a bench desk system, on panel ends. Sliding tops, high capacity cable trays and integral cable management are all standard. The sliding tops mean that cable ports are not required (as cables simply route over the rear of the top and down into the cable tray) and may be locked if desired to restrict access to cabling to IT personnel only.

Metal frames are offered in Black, White, Slate and Zinc with matching dividing screens. Panel end variants offer the same functionality as metal frames but with a more traditional aesthetic: the solid panels also help conceal under-desk clutter and create a greater sense of privacy. Intermediate ‘power towers’ are positioned under each junction between separate work surfaces, not only providing capacious and convenient cable management, but also enhancing the exceptional rigidity of Ambus bench, in contrast to the “wobble” experienced with many other bench systems.

Comprehensive cable management is provided as standard, with vertical risers in the end frames/panels and in the intermediate power towers. Horizontal cabling is carried underneath desk tops in integral high capacity cable trays, where sockets may be placed and excess cable concealed. We offer a comprehensive choice of suitable power and data sockets and connecting cables. For immediate access to power and network connections, over and above any sockets within the cable trays, we offer a range of desktop mounted sockets.

Dividing screens with aluminium frames are available in a range of heights, upholstered in fabric, in Perspex (in a range of colours) or in MFC. Transverse screens are also available to divide worksurfaces laterally.

Ambus Bench offers a full complement of desk, pedestal and storage solutions drawn from the wider Ambus range.

Ambus Executive

A small sub-range of Ambus executive desks of a distinctive contemporary design. There are three configurations of workstations, each comprising a worksurface supported at one end on a rectangular section hoop frame and at the other on a low storage unit, plus three sizes of single pedestal desk. Frames are available in White, Slate, Zinc, matt and gloss Raw Steel.

Ambus Freestanding desks

A huge choice of different desk shapes and sizes, enabling you to find the very best solution for any given application. Available on both metal frames and panel ends. Metal frames are available in White, Slate and Zinc.

Cable management in Freestanding Desks

All freestanding desks have 80mm diameter cable ports in the tops, either in Zinc, White or Slate plastic, or optionally in Polished Chrome. Metal frame desks incorporate vertical cable management within the frames and the ability to route cables between adjacent desks as standard: panel end desks may have vertical cable management on the inside of the panel ends and cable pass-through ports as options. Cable trays may be fitted to the inside of modesty panels to provide horizontal cable routing and support for sockets. Flexible cable spines provide an additional option for vertical cable routing and desktop mounted sockets can be specified to provide instant access to power and data connections.

Frame and Panel Options

Most desks offer the option of recessed panels or frames on either or both sides, optimising knee space when desks are linked together.

Rectangular Desks

800mm to 2000mm wide.

Wave Desks

Ambus offers two styles of office wave desk. The “Ambus wave” curls back to 800mm at each end, maximising flexibility of layout. The Classic wave is 800mm deep at one end and 1000mm at the other.

Compact Wave Desks and Workstations

Compact wave units “wave in” from 800mm to 525mm, compared to a conventional wave desk’s 1000mm to 800mm. This saves a very useful 200mm – yet when facing into the wave there is still more than adequate knee room. The small widths available add to the space-saving appeal. Compact wave workstations with integral pedestal offer exceptional value, while compact wave desks offer the flexibility of placing a pedestal (deep or shallow) to either side.

Compact Double Wave Desks

Double wave office desks that curve out from 600mm deep in the centre to 800mm at each end, available in 1600mm and 1800mm widths.

Corner Desks

Corner desks are available 1400mm to 2000mm wide, with a return side measuring 1200mm. There are also 1800mm and 2000mm D-ended corner desks. The corner leg incorporates a cable riser.

Simple Corner Desks

Simple corner desks feature a simplified structure that reduces cost by eliminating a separate corner leg.

Bow Front Corner Desks

Optional bow fronts offer a different visual style and provide enhanced knee room for visitors pulling up to the front of the desk.

Compact Corner Desks

As corner desks but the return side is reduced to 1000mm (from the 1200mm of a standard corner desk) and the depth of the curve increased – still providing plenty of depth for use with a monitor, but saving space by reducing the workstation footprint.

Simple Compact Corner Desks

Compact corner desks with a simplified structure that reduces cost by eliminating a separate corner leg.

Handed Corner Workstations

A corner desk with an integral three drawer pedestal and a one piece top.

Simple Handed Corner Workstations

Handed corner workstations with a simplified structure that reduces cost by eliminating a separate corner leg.

Unhanded Corner Desks

Symmetrical corner desks with full (800mm) depth work surfaces to both left and right.

120° Desks and Workstations

May be used individually, but more usually in clusters of three or six. The workstation versions incorporate an integral pedestal to left or right.

Freestanding Returns

Small desk-height supplementary work surfaces, offering both rectangular and wave shape tops, designed to be placed at 90° to another work surface.

Meeting Desks

Specialised desks with a shaped top and no modesty panel (so people can sit comfortably on both sides) with an integral pedestal. Available in 1500mm and 1700mm widths. Ideal for customer-facing application such as estate agencies or car sales showrooms, for discussions between the user and one or two visitors. Cables may be routed through the pedestal as standard to minimise cable clutter. The standard tapered legs may be replaced with a single Polished Chrome pedestal base if preferred.

Conference Extensions

Supplementary work surfaces in a choice of two shapes designed to be placed at the end of desk to provide a small meeting facility at the desk without the need for a separate meeting table.

Links

Small work surfaces in a choice of shapes designed to link two desks or two storage units (or storage depth units) at 90°.

Pedestals (drawer units)

Freestanding Pedestals

For use adjacent to or under desks and tables. All pedestals incorporate side drawer pulls, and may optionally be fitted with any of three handle styles. All drawers are fitted with heavy duty ball bearing 100% extension runners.

Fixed Pedestals

Specification as freestanding pedestals, but for fixing under desk tops (not compatible with C2 metal frames).

Narrow Pedestals

320mm wide, compared to the 431mm of standard pedestals. Useful where knee space might otherwise be restricted.

Low Mobile Pedestals

Offer a cost-saving over medium height pedestals (one drawer less). Also useful where the space between the pedestal and the underside of the desk top can be usefully utilised, e.g. to support a small printer or other equipment. Add touchdown seating with optional cushions designed to fit selected mobile X-Range pedestals.

Storage/Pedestals

A combination one-piece unit comprising a desk height, desk depth pedestal with a 505mm high storage compartment above, opening to the side onto the worksurface. Either open fronted of with a tambour door. Most commonly used with bench desks to both provide enhanced privacy and immediately accessible storage.

Ambus Storage

D-end Storage

Provides additional worksurface and useful storage space at the end of two desks butted back-to-back.

Quadrant Storage

A small desk height 90° unit, either open front or with a tambour door, that creates a radius at the end of either a desk or a desk-high storage unit.

Wave D-end storage

A small desk-high open-sided D-ended storage unit that docks into the radius created when two Ambus wave desks are placed side by side, providing easily accessible storage to both users.

Filing Cabinets

Traditionally styled two, three and four drawer filing cabinets.

Streamline Reception Counters

Ambus Streamline enables the creation of attractive and distinctive reception counters in a very wide range of configurations and sizes, from a small selection of simple modules. Counter height modules can be combined with desk height “customer contact” modules at either end or in the centre.

Tiles may be specified in a matching or contrasting veneer or MFC to the surrounding top, or in White glass, frosted Green glass or Black mirror glass. Glass tiles offer the additional benefit of providing a heat and liquid resistant surface.

Flexible Cable Spines: to keep cables tidy where is it impractical to route them within the furniture we offer freestanding flexible cable spines that may be positioned wherever desired.

Sockets and Cables: we offer a comprehensive choice of suitable power and data sockets and connecting cables.

Modular Tables

Our Modular Table Systems meet the need for very flexible, easily reconfigurable tables. We offer a choice of three systems, each providing flexibility in a different way, so you can choose the solution that best meets your needs.

FlipTop Tables

Tables with a flip top that may be easily released using a one-handed pull-catch and pivoted through 90° from horizontal to vertical. Tops lock automatically when rotated back to horizontal. With tops “flipped” to vertical tables may be nested together, reducing the space needed for storage. Moving tables through doorways from room to room with “flipped tops” is simple and convenient, minimising the risk of knocks and damage to both tables and doorways.

We offer two frame styles: an inverted “T” shape and an inverted “Y” shape. The Y-shape offers the added convenience that a user at the end of a table can pull up close to the surface and place their feet under the frame. T-frames are offered in Zinc, Slate or White, and are fitted with glides or lockable 50mm castors. Y-frames are finished in Zinc, Slate or White and are fitted with lockable 75mm diameter castors.

Tops are available in sizes ranging from 1200 x 600mm to 1600 x 800mm, and in rectangular, trapezoidal and D-end shapes. Options include modesty panels and a hinged cable management flap with cable tray. Tops may optionally be linked together using simple finger-tightened linking plates that store under the tops when not in use.

Sectional Tables

Square, rectangular, trapezoidal and D-end table, on removable round legs in Slate, Zinc, White or Chrome (plus triangular linking tops). Top sizes from 700 x 700mm to 1600 x 800mm. Sectional tables may be used individually or linked together to form larger configurations. With the legs removed table tops and legs may be stored and moved on a mobile trolley. Tops may optionally be linked together using simple finger-tightened linking plates that store under the tops when not in use.

Folding Desks

Robust rectangular desks that fold completely flat to minimize storage space when not in use. Folding is simple, carried out with the tables upright, and requires no tools. Tables may be carried individually or stacked on a mobile trolley for easy relocation. All folding desks are 600mm deep and 1200mm, 1400mm or 1600mm wide.

Coffee Tables

Square, rectangular and circular coffee tables, on round tubular legs (in polished chrome, white, slate or zinc), arrowhead bases and polished chrome pedestal bases.

Screens

Ambus is compatible with our ALU and SPA office screen systems. ALU screens are aluminium framed, 65mm thick and may be wire managed. SPA screens are aluminium framed, 24mm thick. All Sven screen systems feature our unique three channel linking design that eliminates the need for intermediate linking posts or a range of different linking connectors.

All screens are available in both desk-mounted and freestanding versions, and upholstered or Perspex glazed (or part-glazed). Screen-mounted shelves are available on all screen systems, and counter tops on SPA and ALU screens. ALU screens may incorporate cable management conduits at desk height or floor level, accessible via hinged flaps on both sides of the screen. These conduits may provide both routing for cables and convenient access to sockets and are especially useful in buildings without raised floors.

Ambus Edge Options

Ambus tops are 25mm thick, with a choice of three edge styles:

  • Standard square edge. The standard edge is lipped with 3mm solid timber (with veneer tops) or 1.5mm PVC (with MFC tops).
  • A resilient slate profile edge is available as an option, providing enhanced impact resistance for heavy-duty applications.
  • Thin edge 10mm visual edge (chamfered from 25mm), available on tables in both MFC and veneer.

Modular tables are offered with the standard 25mm Ambus edge and with a 38mm square edge (veneer only).

Ambus Finish Options

Ambus is available in a wide choice of MFC and veneer finishes.

MFC: Beech, Black, Concrete, Macassar, Maple, Natural Oak, Natural Walnut, Slate, Wenge, White, Zebrano, Zebrano Sand.

Veneer: Cherry, Light Oak, Macassar Gold, Macassar Tan, Maple, Natural Cherry, Natural Walnut, Smoked Oak, Wenge.

In addition to single-colour finishes, Ambus is available in “White Base” and “Zinc combination” finishes. White base combines the selected MFC finish with White on all panels and surfaces below the top: Zinc Combination combines the selected MFC finish with Zinc MFC on vertical panels, excluding doors and drawers.

Important notes about veneers and hardwood timbers

We use solid hardwoods and wood veneers whose varying grain and figure emphasise the natural beauty and individuality of the wood. No two pieces of timber are identical, and there will be natural variations in hue, grain and figure, and both knots and colouring arising from natural minerals in the wood. None of these variations or features are faults: they are simply proof of the natural origin of the product. Please note that most timbers and veneers either lighten or darken on exposure to light. Should you add additional items at a later date, there may be an initial colour mismatch that should even out over a period of time.

Ambus Handle Options

Ambus offer three choices of handles. Handles are optional on pedestals (recessed drawer pulls are fitted as standard to all pedestals). Storage units are fitted with handles as standard, except vertical tambour doors which have integral finger pulls.

Handle options comprise the original Ambus satin chrome tubular bow handles, “Elegance” satin chrome flat-sided bow handles, and solid timber “Executive” handles.

Accessories

Accessory bars and stationery fittings: desk-mounted accessory bars which accept a selection of letter trays, pen holders etc.

Monitor Arms: desk and screen-mounted monitor support arms, both manually height adjustable and gas-assisted.

CPU Cradles: under-desk mounted CPU holders, both fixed and slide out/rotate.
